The About.com smart car review is mostly favorable for the 2008 smart car fortwo models.

Aaron Gold, the Cars Guide from About.com, posted this excellent overall smart car review and gave it a 4/5 star rating.

• What he didn't like: Getting blown around, jerky shifting, struggles on hills

• Who should buy the smart fortwo: City folk who don't mind being stared at

• Who should not buy the smart fortwo: People looking for maximal fuel economy... or anonymity

This is a good review of the smart car's strong and weak points, in my opinion.

Aaron stated that the fortwo struggled going up hills and in strong winds. Also, like many reviewers, he did not like the sluggish transmission. However, he was impressed with the tridion safety cell and he thought the smart car fortwo was fun to drive.
