What does this button under the steering column on the left side do?

Under the steering column to the left side there is a little button with what looks like a pic of a headlight on it, with three settings (0,1,2). what does this button do?

Answer: Chris, I've looked at my smart car and I can't see the button you're describing. Can you give me more info on where it is? On the dash to the left of the steering column? Or on the column itself?

Or, here's a thought... you're in Canada, right? Is it possible your Canadian smart car is set up a bit different than my US version?

Can anyone else chime in here?
